Everything you need to know before playing Space Marine 2

Space Marine 2 is a highly anticipated title in the upcoming fall lineup, and it even secured a coveted spot on Secret Level An animated anthology is coming to Amazon Prime. You might be intrigued by the promise of playing as a hulking, armored Space Marine, wielding that raw transhuman power by tearing apart hive-minded alien creatures with your bare hands or swinging a chainsword into the face of a traitorous wizard. There’s a very immediate and understandable appeal to that kind of gut-wrenching gameplay.

But there is a plot of history – and we mean a lot – in the Warhammer 40K setting. Fortunately, much of this has nothing to do with how much fun you’ll get out of the game. We explain what you need to know TO DO You have to know how to get off to a flying start with Titus’ enormous armored shoes.

In the Warhammer 40,000 setting, human civilisation is united under the banner of the Imperium of Man, which the setting repeatedly describes as “the cruelest and bloodiest regime imaginable”. The Imperium rules over a million worlds, and as such has a bunch of smaller factions vying for power and position.

Titus is an Adeptus Astartes, also known as a Space Marine, serving in the Ultramarine Chapter. At the end of Space NavyTitus saved the forge world of Graia from Orcs and Chaos. However, he did all this a little Also Well, without suffering any ill effects. It was enough for one of Titus’ teammates to become suspicious and report him to the Inquisition, the Imperium’s secret police force tasked with ferreting out anyone who might undermine the authority of the Imperium.

Fans wondered if Titus was executed or simply imprisoned and tortured forever. That is, until Space Marine 2 has been announced, and we’ve seen Titus in the promotional materials in fine form. The Ultramarine looks sullen and dejected – a far cry from his relatively cheerful countenance in Space Navy —but an encounter with the Inquisition and a period of service in the militant Deathwatch order can have that effect on a man.

Space Marine 2 The game opens with an obvious threat: the Tyranids. The Tyranids are an inspiration for many sci-fi villains, such as Starcraft’s Zerg, as these space insects love nothing more than to eat anything that gives them even an ounce of biomass. Titus must stand alongside the humble Imperial Guard, also known as the Astra Militarum – non-transhuman members of the Imperial military who aren’t clad in power armor – on the jungle planet of Kadaku. Titus will also fight on a forge world, a planet dedicated to hosting production facilities run by the mysterious Machine God cult known as the Adeptus Mechanicus.

The Imperium may be a terrible place, but the voracious enemy race of Tyranids, who want to digest all intelligent life, are undoubtedly the worse of the two evils. Titus will have to stomp, crush, tear, shoot and hack his way through endless hordes of Tyranids, but just like in the original game, there is a second enemy faction. In the first game, Titus fought a weak faction of Chaos Space Marines known as the Chosen of Nemeroth. Chaos Space Marines are former soldiers of the Imperium of Man who have been corrupted by the power of the Chaos Gods and now fight in their name.

In Space Marine 2The Chaos Space Marine faction is far more powerful and sorcerous: the Thousand Sons. These 10,000-year-old warriors are masters of the arcane who command legions of Rubric Marines, their armour empty and covered in dust. Their role in the story is not yet entirely certain, but since they serve the Chaos God Tzeentch, there are doubtless some secrets in store.

Space Marine 2 features a single-player and co-op narrative campaign, as well as a selection of PvP modes between highly customizable Space Marine squads. While there will likely be plenty of other customization elements and easter eggs from other Space Marine Chapters, both Heretic and Lawful, the specifics of these warriors are unlikely to be important to the overall plot.

Space Marine 2 will be released on September 9 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
