Why it is obvious that Iran approved the Hamas attack

Shortly after the Hamas attack on Israel, the Wall Street Journal, relying on Hamas sources, reported that the Islamic Republic of Iran had given the green light to the October 7 attack. U.S. government officials have said they have no evidence of Iranian involvement, and Tehran itself says Hamas is an independent actor. But the lack of evidence from US and Israeli intelligence agencies is not surprising, since they also failed to predict the Hamas attack. Those who understand the regime of the Islamic Republic find it hard to believe that the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei did not give consent.
