What Ben Affleck refused to do in Jennifer Lopez marriage before split rumors

How do you like these apples?

Amid rumors that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are on the rocks, a Prime Video documentary explains how Affleck had a request when they rekindled their romance.

In Lopez’s doc, “The Greatest Love Story Ever Told” (now streaming), Affleck said he refused to have their relationship broadcast on social media.

“Getting back together, I said, ‘Look, one of the things I don’t want is a social media relationship,'” he said in the film.

“Then I kind of realized it wasn’t fair to ask. It’s kind of like you’re going to marry a ship captain and (you’re like) ‘Well, I don’t like water.’

Lopez frequently posted about Affleck on social media, such as a photo of the couple kissing or cuddling on vacation.

Affleck, 51, and Lopez, 54, were initially together from 2002 to 2004. They ended their engagement in 2004, then married and had children with other people — respectively, Jennifer Garner and Marc Anthony.

Affleck and Lopez rekindled their flame in 2021 and married in 2022. They share a blended family of five children. He shares children Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with Garner, 52, while Lopez is mom to 16-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Anthony.

But now there are rumors that they might be on the rocks.

The rumors began to surface when she attended the 2024 Met Gala solo last week.

Then it was reported that Affleck was staying at a separate house from Lopez.

Page Six obtained photos of the “Good Will Hunting” actor riding in his sports car Thursday morning in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, where TMZ reported he left the home he had spent the night.

Earlier this week, Lopez was seen looking for a place to stay, sans Affleck.

InTouch reported that Lopez and the “Gone Girl” actor were undergoing therapy to resolve their marital issues.

“Ben believes in therapy, to a point, and is willing to participate with an open mind, even though he hates the whole humiliating process,” a source told the outlet.

To add fuel to the fire, on Thursday, the “Jenny From the Block” singer “liked” an Instagram post detailing the qualities of a partner that can lead to an unhealthy relationship.

The message explained that “you cannot build a healthy relationship with someone” who “lacks integrity and emotional safety”, “does not respect your time”, lacks “communication skills” and does not have strong self-esteem.

Affleck has often looked disgruntled when accompanying Lopez to spectacular music industry events like the Grammys — his unenthusiastic attitude even became a meme during the 2023 ceremony.

The couple haven’t been photographed together since March, but both have always been seen wearing their wedding rings.

“They started having issues a few months ago as Jen started ramping up her work commitments and preparing for her tour… They are on completely different pages most of the time,” a source told Us Weekly on Thursday .

In the Prime Video film, Affleck also said, “We’re just two people with… different approaches, trying to learn how to compromise.” »
