Cyberattackers targeted European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s election website using bots, she said Tuesday evening.
“My campaign site ursula2024.eu was attacked by bots,” she said. wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Stressing that “cyberattacks will not deter us,” von der Leyen added that she stood for “a strong Europe, capable of defending itself – anywhere.”
In December 2023, the European Parliament’s IT department warned that state-sponsored attacks on Parliament were becoming more frequent and sophisticated since the last election in 2019.
