Resident Evil 9 “should be revealed pretty soon and release next year”, leaker suggests

Resident Evil 9 “is expected to be revealed very soon and released next year.”

So says horror leaker Dusk Golem, who posted the news on Twitter/X yesterday.

“I have some good news/rumors to announce about Resident Evil 9,” Dusk tweeted at the time.

“The possible delay that I had heard about can be ruled out. (Resident Evil 9) should be revealed very soon and released next year. If what I heard previously is true, it should be in January. This will have lasted about seven years in development).

Although Golem was right about some early leaks – notably those regarding Silent Hill 2 Remake, Alone in the Dark, and Resident Evil: Village – their record isn’t entirely clean, so this can only be considered a rumor with a giant bucket of salt for now.

But given that Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake were announced during a PlayStation State of Play event, many fans are speculating (read: hoping) that this could mean we’ll get news during the rumored PlayStation Showcase Plus late this month.

If true, Resident Evil 9 will compete with other highly anticipated titles slated for release next year, including Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Tsushima 2, and GTA 6, of course.

Resident Evil series creator Shinji Mikami recently revealed that he left Tango Gameworks to break free from the survival horror genre.
