Putin’s forces launch ‘heinous’ missile attack on Ukraine – POLITICO

“Fortunately, according to operational data, today’s attack did not cause any deaths or injuries,” added the National Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denounced the “heinous” attack and urged allies to stop talking and start providing more support to kyiv.

“We need air defense systems and other forms of defense assistance, not just turning a blind eye and having long discussions,” Zelensky said.

Local authorities said Russia also targeted the regions of Odessa, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, kyiv and Kharkiv, mainly targeting energy and critical infrastructure. Most of the missiles were fired at Lviv, a region close to Ukraine’s border with the European Union, Oleshchuk said.

“Russian missiles and drones attacked gas distribution infrastructure in the Stryi district and an electricity substation in the Chervonohradsky district. Fires have increased,” said Lviv Governor Maksym Kozytskyy.

One of Ukraine’s largest gas storage facilities located in the Stryi district was reportedly used by EU energy companies to store excess amounts of gas during the peak storage season.
