Reports of the death of Polish democracy appear to have been greatly exaggerated, as exit polls suggest this weekend’s elections produced a completely normal shift in political power. The centrist opposition is expected to have a clear chance of forming an administration to replace the right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) party, despite frequent complaints that PiS has deprived Poland of its democratic freedoms.
