A professional nutritionist has revealed the foods Australians should be eating that could help improve their sex lives.

Claudia Calisto, founder of Total health and wellnessfocuses on treating sex hormones like testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone when treating patients with low libido.

Many of the foods Ms. Calisto suggested, including red wine, oysters and nuts, were also on Healthline’s list of foods recommended for increasing libido.

Fruits and vegetables

Her main recommendation for improving libido was to incorporate berries into the diet.

“Berries are rich in zinc, a mineral that can increase testosterone production in men,” she said.

“Plus, berries are full of antioxidants known to increase blood flow to the sexual organs.”

Claudia Calisto’s Top 15 Foods That Could Help Improve Your Sex Life

Berries

Pine nuts

Lawyers

Watermelon

extra virgin olive oil

Broccoli

Saffron

Red ginseng

Pumpkin seeds

Oysters

Green tea

Water

Organic red wine

Nut

Matcha

Another fruit featured prominently on the ingredient list was watermelon, as it contains L-citrulline, a non-essential amino acid that helps improve blood circulation, which could reduce erectile dysfunction.

One green Ms Calisto urged Australians to eat regularly was broccoli because it contains indole-3-carbinol, which could prevent the development of estrogen-enhanced cancers, including breast, endometrial and of the cervix.

Nuts and seeds

Ms. Calisto also recommended eating three different nuts and seeds: pine nuts, pumpkin seeds and walnuts.

“Pine nuts contain good fats, especially good for men who want to have an active sex life,” she said.

“They contain arginine, which helps dilate blood vessels to improve libido and may help men maintain an erection.”

“Never underestimate pumpkin seeds,” she continued. “They are incredibly nutritious and full of zinc.”

Good fats

Ms. Calisto advocates a diet rich in avocados and olive oil, attributing certain aphrodisiac properties to them.

“Avocados are considered a natural aphrodisiac because they are extremely rich in phytonutrients and help expand blood flow to the sexual organs,” Ms. Calisto said.

“Extra virgin olive oil works its magic by triggering the hormone testosterone, which induces sexual desires thereby enhancing orgasms.

Seafood

Also high on the list were oysters, which Ms. Calisto dubbed “nature’s aphrodisiac” because of their high zinc content.

“Did you know that with each ejaculation, a man loses about one milligram of zinc?,” she said.

“Therefore, this mineral needs to be replenished regularly if you want to maintain good health and libido.”

Herbs and spices

She also recommended two herbs for their libido-boosting qualities.

“Saffron is an aphrodisiac spice,” Ms. Calisto said.

“Chronic stress disrupts hormonal balance and can dampen libido. Saffron’s natural compounds may help regulate stress hormones and promote a sense of calm by promoting healthy serotonin levels.

“Reducing stress levels is a great way to increase libido and overall sexual well-being.

“Red ginseng also reduces stress, promotes relaxation and significantly improves blood flow to the sexual organs.”

Drinks

The last four spots on Ms. Calisto’s list were dedicated to drinks.

“Green tea is rich in compounds called catechins that promote blood circulation and may also help reduce belly fat,” she said.

A glass or two of red wine can help boost libido, she said.

“Good news is that organic red wine stimulates both male and female libido. It improves the function of the inner lining of the heart and blood vessels and increases blood flow to different parts of the body, including the sexual organs.

She also emphasized the importance of drinking water, saying, “Staying hydrated by drinking water helps maintain high blood cell and plasma volume, which is necessary for a high libido. »

The final drink Ms. Calisto recommended was matcha, powdered green tea.

“Matcha is made from young, shaded green tea leaves and the whole tea leaf is used,” she said.

“The antioxidants present in matcha are more concentrated than in green tea. One cup of matcha is equivalent to three cups of green tea.

“The antioxidants in matcha facilitate blood flow to the sexual organs by maintaining good circulation.”

As well as food, Ms Calisto (pictured) recommended four drinks Australians should try for better sexual health.
