Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions’ Golden Snitch Has Been Significantly Changed on PS5 and PS4

As a competitive sport, Quidditch is a broken sport. Those of you who have read the Harry Potter novels will know that catching the elusive winged ball will earn the team associated with the seeker 150 points and conclude the match. This effectively renders everything that happens in the arena irrelevant, and while the books do a good job of maintaining suspense, changes were still needed for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions on PS5 and PS4.

And there you have it: catching the snitch has been reduced to just 30 points, and it no longer ends the game. According to the developer, this still provides plenty of opportunities for teams to extend their lead or make late comebacks, while maintaining some semblance of overall balance. As in the novels, you’ll still earn 10 points for throwing the quaffle through one of the opponent’s three goal posts, so that aspect remains unchanged.

Judging by the trailer above, this all looks like a lot of fun. The single-player campaign will take you from a friendly match with the Weasleys to the Wizarding World Cup, the annual Hogwarts tournaments, and the Triwizard World Cup. You’ll earn skill points as you progress to improve your abilities, and you’ll be able to play every position as a custom character or an iconic Harry Potter hero, including PS1-era Hagrid.

There will be different brooms to unlock, each suited to unique stances and playstyles. And you’ll be able to further customize your mount with liveries and such. One thing that’s also worth mentioning here is that there are No Microtransactions are planned; while it’s possible that more cosmetics will be added later if the title proves popular, the publisher insists that all content in the release will be unlockable through gameplay.
