Glenn Youngkin’s plan to save gas-powered cars

Virginia’s odd-year congressional elections are less than three weeks away, and Democrats want to focus on abortion. That’s because Gov. Glenn Youngkin has a high approval rating, and they would rather not talk about the popular things he might do if Republicans gain unified control of Richmond.

For example, next month’s outcome could decide whether Old Dominion takes the fast track to banning gas-powered cars. Two years ago, Democrats in the General Assembly passed legislation to adopt California’s vehicle emissions standards. Signed by the Democratic governor at the time. Ralph Northamit essentially lets progressive regulators at the California Air Resources Board (CARB) dictate the types of cars Virginians can drive.
