French prosecutors will try Gérard Depardieu for sexual assault

Gérard Depardieu will be tried for sexually assaulting two women on the set of a film in 2021, the French prosecutor’s office announced on Monday.

The trial, scheduled for October, marks the first time the famous – and embattled – French actor will face his accusers in a courtroom. Depardieu has already been accused by more than a dozen women of harassment, touching and sexual assault.
