Confusion as Fallout 4 PS Plus Owners Unable to Download Free Next-Gen Update

Fallout 4 PS5 PS4 PlayStation

Fans, all excited by Amazon’s excellent adaptation, are returning to the Fallout games in droves, with the free PS5 update for Fallout 4 looking particularly enticing. However, with the update in the wild, players who picked up the underrated Fallout 4 through PS Plus Extra are finding they can’t download it and are instead being asked to pay for the game.

The good news is that Bethesda is aware of the problem and is working hard to resolve it. In an update on Discord and later posted on Twittera spokesperson said: “We have seen some confusion regarding the free Fallout 4 next-gen update for PlayStation Plus Extra members. Fallout 4’s next-gen update will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra members through the PlayStation Games Catalog. Your patience is appreciated while teams work on this.

The bad news is that no time frame was given, so we’ll just wait and see when a fix becomes available. As some may recall, there was a similar issue with Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, with Sony managing to fix this within a day or two. IGN contacted Bethesda to ask if there were any plans to refund players who purchased the game before the statement was released. Game Pass subscribers on Xbox and PC do not appear to be affected by the problem.
