BOJ Governor Ueda says it is important to foster sustainable inflation


OSAKA — Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda said Monday he saw positive signs of sustained inflation but was not yet ready to end monetary easing.

“The Japanese economy has entered a critical phase in terms of creating a virtuous circle between wages and prices, and what is important at this phase is to carefully nurture the buds of change in the economy,” he said. Ueda told business leaders in Osaka.
