AT THE LATE 1950S, Canadian tycoon, investor and philanthropist EP Taylor decided to create a resort from the mangroves and dirt roads along the coast of New Providence Island in the Bahamas. His vision: an exclusive island playground where well-heeled elites could swing irons, yacht, and lounge all night. The plan worked. The Lyford Cay Club, as he named it, quickly established itself as one of the Caribbean’s rowdiest havens, with members obsessed with discretion, ranging from industry barons like Henry Ford II to luminaries showbiz like Sean Connery.
