Apple promises five years of software support for the iPhone 15, two less than Google and Samsung

Apple is known for its long software support windows for its iPhones, but the company has never officially promised a specific number of years. It’s very different in the Android world, where virtually every device maker has some sort of software support promise, with Google and Samsung leading the way in promising seven years of support for their respective flagships.

Apple has now been forced by new UK regulations to announce a minimum support window for its iPhone 15 family, specifically the iPhone 15 Pro Max in the screenshot below, and has chosen to opt for five years. That’s obviously two years younger than its main competitors, but there’s a catch here: it’s what Apple promises to offer. at least.

Nothing prevents the company from going beyond, even GOOD beyond five years, as has sometimes been the case in the past. So keep that in mind, this isn’t Apple saying this will be the case. END support after five years, he says instead that it is the minimum amount.

So for the first time, we finally have news from Apple about this, although it hasn’t been officially announced to the world in the same way that Android device makers do, and we had to discover in this roundabout way. Still, it gives us something to anchor ourselves to and compare the Android competition to.
