It has now been eight years since the Red Devils won a Premier League title and the club have appointed four managers in what has been a scorching time at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson left.

Only three trophies arrived, Louis van Gaal winning the FA Cup after David Moyes was sacked, before Jose Mourinho led the club to glory in the Europa League and the League Cup before receiving his marching orders in 2018.

And Ibrahimovic, who worked under Mourinho at Old Trafford, believes they need to sever emotional ties with their past successes and focus on the present.

He told the Guardian: “They talk too much about the past. When I went there I said, “I’m here to focus on the present and to create my own story.

“But when you have too much, it becomes like a loop. You have to think about the present or you should go to the hospital and clean your head.

United are close to making a deal to bring Mauricio Pochettino to the club, according to talkSPORT.

Paris Saint-Germain are preparing for a formal approach from the club, who will have to shell out £ 10million to land the Argentine.

The 49-year-old has become United’s main managerial target after Solskjaer’s sacking last weekend.

Representatives for Pochettino have indicated that the Argentine is ready to leave Paris now to land his dream job at Old Trafford.
