Zion Williamson hasn’t played with the New Orleans Pelicans for over a year now, but he’s still the centerpiece of the team as well as one of the most talked about players in the league.

But even though he’s a superstar and about to have a huge comeback season, Williamson never forgets where he came from – or who helped get him to where he is now. .

This was on full display Wednesday night, as Williamson sat pitchside during his side’s Summer League game.

The 22-year-old basketball beast wore a shirt with the coach who coached him at Duke, Coach K.

Williamson is looking to make Coach K – and the rest of his supporters – proud of the year ahead.

The knowledge of K

Williamson played at Duke in the 2018-19 season and helped them to a 32-6 record.

They would eventually lose in the Regional Finals to Michigan State, but Williamson was able to really impress many people, including millions of NBA fans who saw him as the next big thing.

They were right, but Williamson has faced a few bumps in the road since being the No. 1 draft pick in 2019.

He missed the entire 2021-22 season as he recovered from a nasty foot injury, surgery and rehab.

There were many rumors about Williamson during this time, including suggestions that he didn’t want to return to the Pelicans.

But that certainly doesn’t seem to be the case, he looked thrilled to put down roots in his team and got himself in top form heading into the regular season.

Williamson was smiling as he watched the Summer League game on Wednesday, but he’ll have more to smile about in the months to come.
