ZIM vs. IND 2022 | Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli rested, Rahul Tripathi wins first ODI call-up for Zimbabwe series

The BCCI announced the Indian squad for the three-game ODI series against Zimbabwe and many seniors including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested for the tour. Moreover, Rahul Tripathi has earned his first ODI call-up for the series and will be eager to make the most of it.
India are due to tour Zimbabwe from August 18 for three ODIs and this will be India’s first series in Zimbabwe after six years. Much like the ODI series against West Indies, India rested senior players including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Jasprit Bumrah and mohamed chami are also excluded from the team. Shikhar Dhawan will continue his ODI captaincy of the West Indies Series and lead the white ball team in Zimbabwe.

The selectors rewarded Rahul Tripathi for his performance in the national circuit by handing him a first ODI call-up. Washington Sundar also returned to the squad after playing his last ODI against West Indies in February. Deepak Chahar has also recovered from an injury and will appear in the series. The series will be a chance for the youngsters to promote themselves up the pecking order with their performance.
