Warning: spoilers for the second half of the current season of “Love Is Blind” below!
Zanab Jaffrey had a very uncute moment while filming Season 3 of ‘Love Is Blind’.
During the reunion special broadcast on Wednesday, the netflix The reality contestant described a scene that did not appear on the show between her and her former fiancé, Cole Barnett.
Throughout the reunion, there were rumblings among the contestants about a “Cutie incident” – a situation involving the little brand tangerines – between Jaffrey and Barnett. After being brought up several times, Jaffrey shared the story — which may be one of the reasons she decided to throw Barnett back at the altar.
“One day it was around 2 p.m. and we were still filming,” Jaffrey began. “I hadn’t had a chance to eat, so I grabbed two Cuties – like two little oranges that fit in the palm of your hand. And he looked at me and said, ‘Do you are you going to eat both?’ »
“And I said, ‘Well, yeah, that’s one serving. And he said, “Well, we’ll eat later, like maybe keep your appetite.”
Barnett seemed taken aback by Jaffrey’s telling of the story and asked the production to “please release it” if they had the footage.
Turns out the production had receipts — because the special ended with the clip Jaffrey referenced. In the footage, Barnett does indeed ask if she’s going to eat two Cuties, and the scene plays out much as Jaffrey described it at the reunion.
The new footage also features another exchange between the two that is equally awkward. As Jaffrey peels one of her tangerines, she tells Barnett that she is hungry because she only had one banana and a scoop of peanut butter to eat that day. In response, Barnett asks her why she ate so little, and Jaffrey says:
“Oh, I could definitely tell you, but I probably shouldn’t.”
Jaffrey’s reluctance to tell her then-fiancé why she barely ate is reminiscent of other claims she made about him at the reunion.
She accused Barnett of ‘pushing food away from me’, ‘asking if I’m ‘going to eat this’, ‘trying to get me to order a salad’ and making ‘daily comments about my face and body. “.
Jaffrey said those comments happened on and off camera.
“I stopped eating,” she said at one point during the reunion. “I ate, like, a banana and a teaspoon of peanut butter just so I wouldn’t pass out during the long days of filming.”
To make matters worse, Jaffrey also said Barnett admitted on their wedding day that he tried “to kiss a girl and get her number at the bachelor party.”
Barnett denied all of Jaffrey’s accusations and ultimately broke down in tears at the reunion.
On “Love is Blind,” potential couples meet in “pods,” or adjoining rooms where the two can talk but can’t see each other. If a couple decides to get engaged while they’re dating in the pods, they have the chance to meet face-to-face, then live together for a few weeks, and finally decide whether or not to get married at their wedding.
In “Love is Blind” Season 3, Jaffrey threw Barnett on the altar.
“You disrespected me, you insulted me, you criticized me, and for what it’s worth, you single-handedly shattered my self-confidence,” she told Barnett in front of their wedding guests. “And what’s wrong is I know I love you…but love shouldn’t feel like that. I can’t marry you.
Jaffrey later told Variety that she “liked” Barnett while they were dating but that his comments had a negative effect on her.
“The things he was saying to me hurt me,” she told the outlet. “I was trying to somehow make myself desirable to him, whether it was skinnier or” – taking a deep breath – “I’ve never heard anyone talk to me about that way of my body or my diet. It was very real to me. I changed what I was eating. I was just eating a banana. I lost weight on the wedding day. It had nothing to do with the wedding. fit in my wedding dress.
Jaffrey told People after the reunion that she and Barnett “don’t talk to each other anymore.” Barnett told People he regretted his behavior on the show.
