You won’t believe how the US team’s Olympic uniforms have evolved

Meet American Olympic surfers competing at the Tokyo 2020 Games

When fashion and sport go hand in hand.

It’s hard to believe, but in just one day, the highly anticipated Tokyo 2020 Olympics will officially kick off on July 23. Take American style to the next level at the Summer Olympics? Ralph Lauren, who will once again design a uniform collection for Team USA. (It’s a tradition that the brand has been carrying on since 2008!)

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, another American icon is going to create some USA themed loungewear for athletes: Kim kardashian.

But before the old E! star and Ralph Lauren have been drafted as the official designers of the United States Olympic team uniforms, Halston, Levi Strauss & Co. and many other big fashion brands have designed unforgettable looks for this country’s top competitors.

Long before Diplo and Lil Nas X Made Western fashion trendy, Olympians wore a breeder’s sheepskin jacket, plaid shirts, cowboy boots, and hats in the 80s. In addition, Florence Griffith Joyner dazzled the crowds with his blazing speed on the athletic field and her unique outfits.
