‘You are an inspiration’ – Fans rally behind Chris Kamara as legendary presenter is forced to pull out of TV gig

Fans have rallied around Chris Kamara after the broadcast favorite was forced to pull out of a TV presentation gig.
The Middlesbrough-born presenter was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid in 2021 and retired from broadcasting due to the problem.
He then revealed in March 2022 that he had been diagnosed with apraxia of speech (OSA), having shown symptoms of the disease in 2020.
Apraxia is a neurological condition that affects the body’s ability to perform its natural motor functions, most commonly speech function which may be delayed, garbled or unclear in delivery.
Kamara was due to feature Britain’s Strongest Man this week but revealed on social media that he will no longer be doing so.
He tweeted: “Due to my continuing speech problems I have reluctantly withdrawn from presenting as Britain’s Strongest Man this year.
“The show will be in Nottingham this weekend. If you fancy? Please go, it’s spectacular.
Kamara has previously spoken about the insecurities that come with her condition, saying on The Diary Of A CEO podcast: “(It’s) strange in terms of I feel like a fraud now in terms of the broadcast β I’m not bringing this to the table. that I used to. So it’s hard.


βI feel like I’m doing these programs and they’re not getting the best out of me, but they’re tolerating me. That’s what it feels like.
“My life away from the screen couldn’t be better – grandkids, family, it’s perfect.”
As Middlesbrough fans gave him a huge show of support after this interview, fans once again took to Twitter to share their support for the Sky Sports legend.
One fan wrote, βYou superstar Kammy keep it up you got this.β
Another said: βKammy you are a one man legend. So much so that I don’t think I’ve ever met a single person who is so universally loved and transcends generations. My father loves you, I love you and my son loves you.
A third wrote: We love you Kammy hope to see you again soon.
