Arsenal have announced that midfielder Danielle van de Donk has left the club to join Lyon.
The 29-year-old Dutch international has signed a two-year contract with the French club after reaching the end of his contract with Arsenal.
Van de Donk joined Gothenburg’s Women’s Super League team in November 2015 and made 142 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 45 goals.
She helped Arsenal win the WSL title in 2019 and the FA Cup in 2016.
Van de Donk has scored 27 goals in 112 appearances for the Netherlands and was one of the teams that won Euro 2017 at home and finished second at the 2019 World Cup in France.
Arsenal did not win any trophies last season, but beat Manchester United for the last place in the Women’s Champions League by one point.
They are also looking for a new manager after Joe Montemurro leaves for Juventus Women and have also confirmed the exits of Jill Roord at Wolfsburg and right-back Leonie Maier when his contract expires.
The WSL will be broadcast live on Sky Sports from 2021/22
Air sports announced a three-year deal with the FA to become the main broadcaster for the Barclays Women’s Super League from September 2021.
Being one of the most competitive leagues, with some of the most famous names and teams in the world, the WSL will be one of the Sky Sports’ flagship offers.
The deal will see Air sports broadcast at least 35 exclusively live matches per season and further strengthen the broadcaster’s commitment to women’s sport.
