Wrexham fan with terminal cancer meets Ryan Reynolds as last wish | UK News

A Wrexham fan who met Ryan Reynolds when his last wish has died aged 45.
Jay Fear, from Southampton, was diagnosed with terminal appendix cancer in January after being given the all clear last year.
Actor Reynoldsthe co-owner of Welsh football clubposted on Twitter that he was “so grateful” to have spent time with the Wrexham fan.
“He didn’t have much left and the fact that he shared that time so freely with others is something I will never take for granted and never forget. This man lived,” Reynolds said. .
“Sending all my love to Deb, Jess and Sam,” Reynolds added, referring to Mr. Fear’s wife and children.
In an Instagram Story, Reynolds also said Mr Fear was “one of the bravest, kindest and most generous people” he had ever met.
“Deb, Sam and Jess, thank you for sharing your dad with me. I know how inadequate words must be given to your tremendous loss,” he said on social media.
“Sending you all our love from my family, Wrexham and beyond. I loved every second spent with Jay.”
Reynolds had invited Mr Fear and his family to watch Wrexham win promotion to the National League last month.
Mr Fear told BBC Radio 5 Live at the time: “I’ve always loved Ryan Reynolds – ever since (2002 film) Van Wilder. I remember watching this for the first time and thinking this guy was cool.
“They always say you should never meet your idol and this guy is definitely an exception to that.
“I started watching the Wrexham program on Disney+ and when you watch that you can’t help but love Wrexham,” he said.
Speaking about meeting Reynolds, Mr Fear said: “People might think it was all about me.
“Actually it’s for my family because they’re the ones who are going to remember what happened for the rest of their lives. I just hope it’s a foundational memory that they won’t forget. Never.”
The Deadpool star also invited Mr Fear to the set of the third film in the famous superhero franchise, which is due out in November 2024.
Mr. Fear’s reunion was hosted by Bucket List Wishes who thanked Reynolds and Wrexham for granting his last wish.
