Women’s T20 Challenge 2022 | Ready for responsibility, have a team to win the championship, says Velocity skipper Deepti Sharma

Velocity captain Deepti Sharma has faith in her team as she believes they can win the championship by beating Supernovas in the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022 final on Saturday. Notably, Velocity beat Supernovas by seven wickets when the two teams faced off on Tuesday.

The final of the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022 will be played on Saturday at MCA Stadium, between Velocity and Supernovas. Both teams had won once and lost once each in the league phase, and will be keen to win the league this year. However, when they last met, Velocity got the last laugh by beating Supernovas by seven wickets.

In this competition, Supernovas rode on Harmanpreet Kaur51 balls 71 to reach 150/5 after being asked to hit. Taniya Bhatia scored 36 from 32, while Sune Luus went unbeaten on 14 and 20. In response, Shafali Verma and Laura Wolvaardt scored 51 each to take Velocity over the finish line in 18.2 overs.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the final, Velocity skipper Deepti Sharma is confident about her team. She believes Velocity can repeat the same dominant performance as against Supernovas in the previous game to lift the coveted trophy.

“Yes, we have the team to win the championship. Especially with the way we played and our positive thinking. The players play their assigned roles and they are confident. The most important thing is that we enjoy the game. We will win if the players play their assigned roles,” Sharma said during the pre-match conference.

“I am always ready to take on responsibilities as a senior player and captain.”

All four matches are played at the same venue in Pune.
