Woman shocked to find herd of cows taking over her garden: ‘free lawn mowing’

A homeowner in England was surprised after coming down in the night to find a herd of cows taking over the yard.

Molly, 30, lives in Hampshire with her husband Dale, 33, but has had some unusual visitors recently, three years after moving into their home.

Healthcare worker Molly got out of bed to fetch a glass of water in the night, but after getting off she noticed a group of cows in her garden, watching her through the huge glass doors that overlooked her. Molly captured the moment in a TikTok video which has since gained over 8 million views.

As she walked down, led by her dog, the lights came on in the yard to show several cows just standing in her garden, staring out the window and eating grass. Molly can be heard cackling with laughter.

“I can’t believe it. I was just joking the other day and thinking ‘wouldn’t it be funny to wake up and there’s a cow in the garden,'” Molly shared in a second video.

“I live on a real street with lots of houses and I have a field at the back of my house, I don’t live in the middle of nowhere.” she added.

Molly told the British press that there was a fence at the end of the garden but it had been taken down during the renovation of the house.

“My husband replaced it with a piece of plywood because the owner told us to be careful,” she said. “Now we are going to put up a proper wooden fence.”

Her husband Dale was left to tend the herd, trying to coax the cows out of the garden using a stick and grass as bait.

The bovine guests seemed to like their new playground though, as they came back into the light of day a few days later. This time they were noticed by a neighbor, who knocked on Molly’s door to let her know about the latest visit.

“Free lawnmower,” joked one user among the many who flooded the comments section of the viral video.

Newsweek contacted Molly for comment.

It’s not the first time cows have shown a taste for taking over space, with Ring doorbell footage going viral in February after escaped dairy cows descended on a Georgia neighborhood.

Dozens of cows were captured walking down a residential street and congregating outside a resident’s front door by a Ring camera.
