Wolves score THREE goals in the last 15 minutes to claim a stunning win at Aston Villa, who leads 2-0

Wolves claimed the Midlands bragging rights in the most spectacular style as they came back from 2-0 to beat Aston Villa 3-2.

Ruben Neves’ deflected free kick in stoppage time snatched points from Bruno Lage’s men at Villa Park to drive traveling fans crazy.

Talk about throwing it away

The victory seemed inconceivable to the visitors when Villa found themselves 2-0 in the middle of the second half.

A neat finish from Danny Ings and a deflected strike from John McGinn put Dean Smith’s men in control, but Romain Saiss breathed new life into the game in the 80 minute mark.

And the Wolves equalized five minutes later as Conor Coady brought the ball home after chaotic scenes in the penalty area.

They weren’t finished there, as Neves’ strike with a dead ball, which resulted in a nasty deflection from Matt Targett, sealed the most unlikely victory.

The game was open from the start and Tyrone Mings blocked from Hwang Hee-chan after a miserable free kick from Axel Tuanzebe.

McGinn’s excellent 25-yard effort dropped half a yard after 14 minutes, but Villa was tightly restricted by Wolves early on.

Lage’s side were more controlled with the ball, although they had failed to test Emi Martinez – a late arrival after an international duty with Argentina.

But Villa began to struggle against control with Emi Buendia guiding a wide cross from Matty Cash before the signing of the record provided a nice opening for Ings after 27 minutes.

The midfielder slipped into Ings who ran into the box but Jose Sa produced an excellent one-handed save to deflect the shot.

Rather than boosting Villa, it woke Wolves up and four minutes later Adama Traore should have put them forward.

He kicked off a 45-yard run where he skipped four Villa challenges to leave only Martinez to beat, to shoot straight at the goalkeeper.

The winger has managed 48 dribbles this season – a league-high – before the game, but the finish summed up his lack of a final product with the ex-Villa awaiting a goal or assist this quarter .

Saiss and Coady missed Neves’ tempting cross but Villa finished the half in the lead with Cash shooting.

However, it didn’t take long for Villa to open the scoring in the second half.

McGinn rolled Saiss to the right and his precise cross was directed into the corner by Ings rushing to give the hosts a lead in the 48th minute.

McGinn then hit himself after 68 minutes to top off an excellent individual display.

Ollie Watkins grabbed a terrible pass from Hwang and his drive was blocked by Coady. The ball rolled for McGinn from 20 yards and his first strike hit Neves for an arrow in the corner.

Wolves refused to take it easy and Saiss scored a goal 10 minutes from time, finishing point blank from Daniel Podence’s cross.

He set up a grandstand finish and the visitors regrouped in the leveler five minutes later.

Max Kilman hit the bar but Villa failed to clear and ultimately Leander Dendoncker’s cross was returned by Coady.

They still weren’t done and, when Traore was shot down from 25 yards, Neves’s free-kick hit Matt Targett upside down Martinez and ended a crazy final.
