WNBA 2021 Finals: the exciting Mercury-Sky 2 game decided in overtime, thrills Twitter

Clutch kick after blow on the stretch in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals between the Phoenix Mercury and the Chicago Sky made for must-have basketball.

When it appeared the Mercury had come full circle, Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot bet on a clutch layup that forced overtime. In the extra period, however, the Mercury made sure they took care of things the second time around.

Their starting goalie Skylar Diggins-Smith won the match.

The 91-86 victory for the Mercury allows them to tie the series 1-1.

Brittney Griner dominated, tying her career-high playoff high with 29 points on 12 of 19 shots from the field. Recently crowned WNBA GOAT Diana Taurasi scored 18 of her 20 points in the second half, while Diggins-Smith, leading the game winner, recorded a near triple-double with 13 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds.

The back-and-forth action rocked Twitter, catching the eyes of WNBA and NBA players – past and present.
