August 22 (Reuters)European low cost airline Wizz Air WIZZ.L said on Monday that its chief financial officer, Jourik Hooghe, would step down to pursue opportunities outside the company.

The company has also appointed Ian Malin as Chief Financial Officer, who will join Wizz Air on October 1.

Shares of the carrier were down 3.4% in early trading.

Hooghe, 45, joined the airline in February 2020 and has had to go through a turbulent time in the aviation industry due to COVID-19 travel lockdowns.

Malin, who is currently director of strategy and commerce at U.S.-based Unical Aviation, has 22 years of finance experience, Wizz Air said in a statement.

Hooghe will be available during the transition period until December 31, he added.
