With a deep recession ahead, Biden prepares by blaming Republicans

A severe recession next year is already predicted, but don’t worry: President Joe Biden is on it. That is to say, he is preparing for . . . blame the Republicans.

Of course, the real cause is its own disastrous policy: the nation has already hit recession as traditionally defined with two quarters of negative growth in the first half of the year, and the third quarter was only positive thanks to a declining trade deficit driven by increased energy exports. Consumer spending even slowed.

Bloomberg Economics forecast finds 100% chance of deep recession next year; about two-thirds of business economists in the National Association of Business Economics survey say the same. For more warnings, ask Jeff Bezos or Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon.

So there was Biden last week, thundering that a midterm GOP victory will “collapse the economy” and increase inflation, while bizarrely claiming that Democrats “are fiscally responsible.”

He brags that the federal deficit fell by $1.4 trillion in the last fiscal year, ignoring the facts that 1) the cause was simply the end of COVID emergency spending and 2) it would have fallen twice as much without all the new spending he rammed through.

Meanwhile, inflation on which its spending spree has unleashed rampages, with the Federal Reserve forced to keep raising interest rates to stifle it, pushing the economy further down.

Biden and fellow Democrats ignored months of warning signs, calling skyrocketing inflation ‘transient’ (when they weren’t outright laughing at the worries of average Americans) and continued their economic arson.

The political result: a huge swing in GOP momentum. And polls show that voters know the ruling party is responsible for our economic misery.

That all the president can think of doing is blathering on the opposition’s imaginary future crimes is simply a sign that even after the Democrats’ forthcoming bombardment, much of the problem will remain.
