It must have been the Monday of Anger. The mobilization organized by fishermen and opponents of the wind farm in the bay of Saint Brieuc, this Monday, May 3, will have finally given birth to a mouse. Starting with the planned operation at sea to disrupt the start of the work, announced for several days and which was finally canceled by the fishermen around 6 a.m.
The reason mentioned? The absence of construction vessels. Who, however, they are present on site this Monday. Under guard, the maritime prefect having deployed several ships of the maritime gendarmerie, the national navy and customs. “We have paid close attention to security issues, but our ships are on site as planned,” confirms Emmanuel Rollin, the boss of Ailes Marines. “There was no question of playing cat and mouse”.
“We were all fooled”
Result, the fishermen join the rest of the opponents for the second planned action, a rally in front of the prefecture of Saint-Brieuc. An appointment that almost turns to the political platform with the interventions of the deputy LR Marc Le Fur, the regional councilor RN Gérard de Mellon, or even Henri Labbé, the mayor of Erquy.
The political question even fails to become the grain of sand in a mobilization that wants to be united. Slightly heckled during his speech, Henri Labbé, then attacked Alain Coudray, the president of the departmental fisheries committee … And candidate for the regional on the LR list of Isabelle Le Callennec. “You don’t have the courage for the decisions you made. And today, you are getting into politics, ”tackles the first city councilor of Erquy, reminding the boss of Costa Rican fishermen of his initial support for the project. “With good for nothing like you, there is no choice”, draws the latter. Obviously, the fishermen are after Henri Labbé. Like Julien Tréhorel, based in Erquy. “We were all fooled. But today we must be together. We must stop dividing like the mayor does ”.
If we don’t have a shell anymore, clearly we’re dead
Reinforcement of Norman fishermen
Among fishing professionals, who have spoken very little, opposition to the wind farm remains strong. “It’s a whole ecosystem that they are going to put at risk”, breathes Florian, a fisherman from Locquémeau. “It will have an impact on our activities”, abounds Tristan, one of his colleagues. “If we no longer have a scallop, clearly we are dead.”
So the fishermen are still hoping to make a difference. “We can still counter the project,” defends one of them. “The bay of Saint-Brieuc can become a symbol”. A sort of maritime zone to be defended (ZAD)? The reinforcement of Norman fishermen is expected in particular for a new action at sea, Thursday or Friday.
Exchange with Barbara Pompili?
Until then, Alain Coudray hopes to be able to discuss with Barbara Pompili, Minister of Ecological Transition. This is the request he made to the prefect of Côtes-d’Armor after a meeting of nearly two hours. “And we also want Ailes Marines to meet the fishermen”. Olivier Le Nézet, president of the regional fisheries committee, present to support the Costarmoricans is also campaigning for more dialogue. “Today Iberdrola no longer respects sailors. We cannot set up this kind of project without consultation ”.
They finally decided to make themselves heard one last time, this Monday. In the middle of the afternoon, they went to Pleudaniel for a demonstration near the Ailes Marines rear base.
