Carson Wentz’s status is uncertain ahead of the Colts’ Week 3 game against the Titans, according to a Monday update from coach Frank Reich.
Reich told reporters Wentz suffered two ankle sprains in Sunday’s 27-24 loss to the Rams, which brought Indianapolis down to 0-2 this season. Reports suggest Wentz suffered a sprained left ankle early in the game, while a sprained right ankle knocked him out in the fourth quarter.

When asked if Wentz would be able to play against Tennessee on Sunday, Reich said he needed more information at a medical meeting later on Monday to determine a week-long plan for the return of his quarterback.
“We’ll have to see how it goes,” Reich said.
Reich told reporters after Sunday’s game that Wentz “rolled his ankle pretty well”, adding “there was no way” he could have returned to lead the Colts in the dying minutes. He finished the game completing 20 of 31 passes for 247 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He was on the sidelines as backup quarterback Jacob Eason served as Indianapolis quarterback in his last two records of the game.

On his first possession, Eason threw an interception at Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, seemingly ending the game.
Eason had another shot at leading the Colts to a comeback victory, but he ended the game completing just 2 of 5 passes for 15 yards and an interception.

This isn’t the first time an injury has put Wentz’s status in the air this year. The former Eagles quarterback underwent a procedure to remove a bone from his foot on August 2. He should have been sidelined for up to 12 weeks.
Wentz finally started Week 1 against the Seahawks, against whom he completed 25 of 38 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked three times for a 28-yard loss to Seattle and faced 10 hits from the quarterback. On Sunday, he was sacked three times for a 27-yard loss and faced 11 hits from the quarterback.
