Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen backed Manchester United to claim victory over Norwich City on Saturday in the Premier League. The Red Devils head into the game against Dean Smith’s side after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Everton last weekend.
Manchester United have won just one of their last five league matches. They desperately need a positive result against a Norwich City side who are currently bottom of the table. The Canaries, however, picked up an impressive 2-0 win over Burnley last weekend.
Although Ralf Rangnick is struggling to find solutions to United’s problems and a number of star players lack confidence and form, Owen believes the Red Devils will claim all three points.
“There are big problems at the moment at Man United. The performance against Everton was shocking in terms of spells, and there are huge question marks over some members of this team. For all the talent on the pitch last week, they created next to nothing. This shouldn’t happen,” Owen said in his column for BetVictor according to thesportreview.com.
“All credit goes to Norwich for the win over Burnley last week. It would have been easy for this team to downsize but they continue to compete every game. I think Norwich will keep this one tight but in the end , United will beat him . 1-0 against United is my prediction.”
Manchester United currently sit seventh in the Premier League table. They are six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils have been tipped to miss out on a top four spot and therefore next season’s Champions League due to their difficult schedule. They must face Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea before the end of the season.
Manchester United players must look to impress next week to secure their future at Old Trafford
The Premier League giants endured a dismal 2021-22 season, in which they were knocked out of the Champions League in round 16 of the stage and the FA Cup in round four. The club are set to undergo a rebuild this summer and could therefore part ways with a number of players this summer.
According to Sky Sports, United are set to appoint Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag as their new manager this summer. The Dutch tactician is expected to keep a close eye on United’s performances over the latter part of the season to determine which players will be part of his plans for the club.
United players must therefore produce impressive performances in the final stretch of the season to avoid the risk of being sold or loaned out this summer.
