Why Liverpool would suit Tottenham star Harry Kane better than Man City or Chelsea with Reds asked to step up front in transfer window

Liverpool aren’t looking for Harry Kane, but maybe they should be.

The Tottenham star’s £ 150million price tag, most likely to be reached by Manchester City or Chelsea, is possibly the biggest hurdle between him and a move to Anfield.

Imagine this front three …

However, Danny Mills believes Kane fits in better in the Reds’ starting XI than any of his potential suitors.

For many seasons Roberto Firmino has played something akin to a faux-nine role for Jurgen Klopp, sacrificing his own goal tally to create for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Kane is a forward who can do both, finishing the 2020/21 campaign topping the charts for goals and assists after thriving in a deeper role at Spurs.

Questions were asked of Firmino during Liverpool’s failed title defense last season – and the Brazilian was dropped for Diogo Jota at one point.

Former Leeds and England defender Mills believes this is the area in which Liverpool need to strengthen.

“They should be looking to sign a full-fledged center-forward,” Mills told talkSPORT.

“Kane would suit them perfectly with the way he plays in that slightly deeper role, the nine-and-a-half-year-old position, where he spends every now and then.

“If you had Mane going down on one side, Salah going down on the other, Kane in the middle – the chances he would create for them and himself would be perfect.”

“He’s not going, I don’t think so. But it would be the perfect fit.

“Son is a fantastic player, but to play with two quality players by his side, with Jota as well, that would be amazing.

“In terms of fit, this is the best fit. Do I think he will go there? No.”
