The Met Gala 2022 was not on everyone’s schedule.
Several stars were noticeably absent from fashion’s biggest night on May 2, including Zendaya, who previously interrupted the 2019 Met Gala when she came dressed as Cinderella. (See all the stars on the red carpet here.)
the Euphoria The star had good reason to miss the Met Gala, as she is currently in Boston filming the sports drama Challengers next to Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor. Last month she said in addition that she would not be attending the prom this year but would “come back eventually”.
“I’m going to disappoint my fans here, but I’m going to work,” she said. “Your daughter has to work and make movies. I wish everyone the best. I’m going to play tennis.”
Rihanna—who is currently expecting her first child with A$AP Rocky— understandably didn’t work, work, make her way onto the Met Gala carpet this year, but her presence was still felt: vogue honored the mom-to-be by revealing a stunning marble statue of her at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
