Longtime “The View” moderator Whoopi Goldberg finally let the program’s only curator, Meghan McCain, have it on Thursday amid a furious debate over President Joe Biden.
The two took on Biden’s slam on CNN’s Kaitlan Collins after the reporter asked him on Wednesday why he was convinced Russian President Vladimir Putin would improve his behavior. “What are you doing… what are you doing all the time?” When did I say I was confident? Biden responded with emotion.
McCain called Biden’s treatment of Collins “100% Trumpy,” noting, “Just because Trump was so bad doesn’t absolve Biden’s bad behavior. “
“It is in no one’s best interests to continue to treat it as if it is state television,” she added.
Goldberg pointed out that the president later apologized. “The thing I never saw Trump do was apologize to anyone,” Goldberg said.
“I don’t care if he apologizes,” snapped McCain.
“I don’t care if you don’t care,” retorted Goldberg, who is used to keeping his cool with McCain.
This led a petulant McCain to reply, “I don’t care if you don’t care, Whoopi, so we’re quits.”
Before moving on to an ad, Goldberg said: “Good, Meghan, then you can be the way you always are.”
The two apologized to each other after the break.
“I want to apologize because I was rude,” Goldberg said. “I didn’t have to say what I said, and I apologize because that’s not how I want to behave at work.”
McCain replied, “Well, I apologize too, Whoopi.”
“Cool,” Goldberg said.
