Who won the 2023 WWE Men’s Royal Rumble Match?

The 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble spared no effort to entertain the crowd. Renowned for its shock factor, the surprise package opened up early on when Pat McAfee joined the commentary side. However, the finish turned out to be too obvious.

WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Booker T were in on the action. As The Rated-R Superstar came to settle scores with The Judgment Day, Booker’s return to the ring after a decade was entertaining.

This year’s Men’s Royal Rumble also made history. Rey Mysterio’s long-standing record was broken by Gunther in his first appearance in the multi-man bout. The Ring General lasted over an hour after entering at No. 1 before being eliminated by the eventual winner.

Cody Rhodes won the 2023 WWE Men’s Royal Rumble Match. A heavy favorite to win the contest since last year, Rhodes entered at No. 30 and battled with Seth Rollins and Austin Theory before laying down his eyes on Gunther. The two megastars brawled for several minutes, using various strategies, showing glimmers of a possible hit-and-miss feud.

The American Nightmare is about to fulfill his dream of winning the WWE Championship in honor of his late father, Dusty Rhodes. WrestleMania 39 will likely feature the No. 1 babyface on the roster competing against No. 1 heel, Roman Reigns, should the latter not lose his world titles before the April event.

Cody Rhodes appeared in seven Men’s Royal Rumble matches during his WWE career before picking up a win today. His road to WrestleMania was a long time coming, considering his past struggles in the Stamford-based promotion.

How did Cody Rhodes react to Gunther at the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble?

Rhodes and Gunther stole the show with their gladiatorial battle in the climax of the high-stakes match. The American Nightmare was subjected to some vicious chops, but fought back and threw the 300-pound star over the top rope.

During a post-match interview with Ryan Satin, Rhodes revealed how the reigning Intercontinental Champion has the potential to be a megastar.

“I have blood in my mouth right now and I’m loving it (…) There’s something about being in the ring – you kinda like the pain – [and] I think maybe a bit of Gunther was a good thing (…) This guy also has a huge future and present. (3:44 – 4:03)

Cody Rhodes is apparently set to be cast in the “Bloodline implosion” storyline. Time will tell how this will unfold. He could end up teaming up with Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and John Cena to end the tribal leader’s tyranny.
