Real estate experts Candis and Andy Meredith hosted Magnolia Network’s new round of renovations, Homework. It premiered on January 5, but the network canceled the show within two days.
According to reports, several customers had complained of poor build quality, false promises and excessive budgets.
Addressing the issue, Magnolia Network President Allison Page said in a statement:
“Magnolia Network is aware that some homeowners have expressed concerns about the renovation projects undertaken by Candis and Andy Meredith.
He further stated:
“Over the past few days, we have learned additional information about the extent of these issues and we have decided to remove work at home from the Magnolia Network range pending a review of the complaints that have been made.”
$ 85,000 worth of renovations were left incomplete
Three owners / customers have come forward on social media and accused repairers Candis and Andy of underdelivery and overcharging.
Reports claim the host couple hired unlicensed contractors who apparently created unsafe conditions. Customers spent tens of thousands of dollars on renovations and then were asked to pay additional fees.
The Daily Mail reported that one of the families claimed the Merediths convinced them to pay $ 85,000 for the renovation, but the work remained unfinished.
Aubry Bennion, Teisha Hawley and Vienna Goates are among the owners who were the first to post their issues on Instagram.
On Saturday, the Merediths took control and shared their seven-slide side of the story.
Here’s how Candis and Andy Meredith bagged “work from home”
Homework is not the Meredith couple’s first reality TV show. Candis has been flipping homes in Utah since she was 16, and after marrying Andy, the couple began flipping homes and selling properties as a team.
In 2015 they had their own HGTV show, Old house love, where the Merediths were renovating old houses. After the show ended, they failed to secure any other TV show deals.
They also produced a show on Facebook, Old sweet house, and released their first book of the same name in 2017.
Hosts were treated to Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Show via DM on Instagram. Andy told People magazine:
“It was right before the official Magnolia Network announcement, and she just reached out and said, ‘I’d like to talk. “We connected and she said, ‘Hey, I have an idea.'”
