“White supremacy” more dangerous than “national terrorist threats”, according to Guterres – RT in French

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, speaking at the opening of the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council, identified white supremacism as a threat greater than terrorist threats national.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, speaking by video message on February 22, 2021 on the occasion of the opening of the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council, warned that “white supremacy and neo-Nazi movements” are becoming a “transnational threat” greater than “national terrorist threats,” Reuters reports.

Without naming states or organizations in particular, Antonio Guterres added that “these extremist movements represent the number one threat to internal security in several countries”, specifying that it was necessary “to intensify the fight against the resurgence of neo-Nazism, of white supremacy and racially and ethnically motivated terrorism ”.

He added that he wanted “coordinated action at a global level to overcome this grave and growing danger” and that “too often these hate groups are encouraged, by people in positions of responsibility, in a way that was considered unimaginable not long ago ”.
