White House welcomes Dem agent whose Fetterman group has been branded a scammer

This marks a rapid change of fortune for the group after Fetterman’s campaign manager, in a fundraising email, called the Democratic Coalition a “PAC scam…claiming that the money they raise goes to John and our campaign”.

“Not only is it wrong, but it also puts us at a disadvantage,” Brendan McPhillips wrote, asking fans to donate money to make up for lost dollars.

The object of McPhillips’ ire was an ad the Democratic Coalition launched earlier in the week portraying Fetterman as a working-class champion who would act as a bulwark against encroachments on democracy, women’s rights and health care. health. The ad asked viewers to “donate today and help us show this awesome Fetterman ad to swing voters in Pennsylvania,” which Dworkin championed as a way to “launch” the state’s Democratic base before mid-terms.

McPhillips accused the group of siphoning off money for themselves, rather than the Fetterman campaign itself. And his exasperation has been cheered by several progressive operatives who have previously accused the Democratic Coalition of soliciting money from passionate liberals only to spend on its own operations. “Fuck and find out, crooks,” McPhillips wrote.

A White House spokesperson confirmed Dworkin’s attendance, noting in a statement: “More than two dozen prominent social media account managers came to the White House today to recognize Dworkin’s accomplishments. this president — from empowering Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices to making historic investments in the fight against the climate crisis.

It’s unclear who Dworkin and fellow progressives — including Mueller She Wrote’s Allison Gill, the creators of anti-Trump group MeidasTouch, and Occupy Democrats’ Grant Stern — met at the White House. The group seemed to cross paths with the second gentleman Doug Emhof. Group members posted photos from all over the White House grounds, posing with portraits around the West Wing and at the briefing room lectern.

Dworkin did not return a request for comment.
