The Olympics are the biggest sporting event in the world, and NBCUniversal has taken great care to capture as many as possible, presenting over 7,000 hours of coverage of the event. Due to the sheer volume, NBCUniversal needs to spread its coverage across its family of networks, including NBC, NBC Sports, Olympic Channel, CNBC, USA and Golf Channel. Live broadcast of the Olympic Games

NBC’s streaming service Peacock will cover some live events including track and field, gymnastics and basketball. The service, which is free with ads, will also feature original Olympic programming, studio shows, curated playlists, highlights and full reruns of the Tokyo 2021 Games.

When do the Olympic Games start in 2021?

The Tokyo 2021 Olympics technically kicked off with a softball doubles program on July 20, with the United States beating Italy 2-0 and Japan beating Australia 8-1. Several other competitions took place between this double program and the Opening Ceremony – the official start of the Olympic Games – at 7 a.m. on Friday 23 July.
