Five days of action at Royal Ascot are fast approaching as Flat Racing’s most prestigious competition returns this week.

A record price of £8,652,000 is on offer at the meeting, with no race to run for less than £100,000.

It will be the first time in three years that crowds have returned in large numbers, with just 12,000 spectators allowed each day in 2021 as part of a pilot event during Covid restrictions.

When is Royal Ascot?

Royal Ascot will once again take place over five days, from Tuesday June 14 to Saturday June 18.

There are a total of 35 races on this year’s card at Ascot.

Each day there will be seven races, with the first starting at 2.30pm BST and the last at 6.10pm BST.

How to watch Royal Ascot

On terrestrial television, ITV will show all races from the meeting, with coverage on ITV1 from 1.30pm to 6.00pm BST. Each day’s final race will be shown on ITV4.

Sky Sports Racing is also entitled to show full coverage of the entire meeting, including full build-up, all 35 races and subsequent analysis.

When are the flagship races?

As always, there are eight Group 1 races on the map with at least one per day.

The Queen Anne Stakes kicks off the meeting on Tuesday afternoon, and Baaeed is expected to put on a show. The final Group 1 race of the week takes place on Sunday, with a six furlong sprint in the Platinum Jubilee Stakes.

Royal Ascot 2022 Tickets

Tickets for all venues sell out on Saturdays, but there are still a few available on other days earlier in the week.

Aside from the Queen Anne enclosure, tickets can still be purchased for all other enclosures with the cheapest starting at £37 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

What’s the weather like?

The current Met Office weather forecast calls for sunshine and high temperatures throughout the week in Ascot, with Thursday expected to be the cloudiest day. No rain is forecast for the entire game.
