When do polling stations end for recall elections in California?

If you haven’t voted on the recall, there is still time.

Polling stations close at 8 p.m. in California. As with other elections, if you line up at your polling station at 8 p.m., don’t go anywhere – you have the right to stay until you can vote.

You can also drop your mail-in ballot at an official ballot box before 8 a.m. this evening, or in any U.S. Postal Service mailbox before the final collection time shown on the ballot box. If you use the mail, the ballots must be postmarked by today and your county registrar must receive your ballot by September 21 to be counted.

California allows same-day voter registration, so if you suddenly feel inspired to participate in democracy, you still can. Here’s how to complete same-day voter registration in California.
