What time will State of Origin Game 2 actually start tonight in Perth?

Game 2 of the 2022 State of Origin series between the NSW Blues and Queensland Maroons is program to kick off tonight at 7:50 p.m. AEST.

It is only the second time that rugby league’s flagship event has headed west.

Last time a game was played in Perth, NSW won 38-6 with Jake Trbojevic voted man of the match.

Perhaps that’s why Blues manager Brad Fittler chose to bring Jake back to his Origin team after his side lost the opener in Sydney 16-10.

Being in Perth there can be a bit of confusion with departure times depending on where you live in Australia and around the world.

The game is due to start at 5:50 p.m. local time in Perth, which is 7:50 PM AEST for those on the east coast, 7:20 p.m. for those in South Australia and the Northern Territory and 9:50 p.m. if you’re watching in New Zealand.

In recent years the actual kick off has been reasonably close to the scheduled time and indeed if we go to match 1 it was only four minutes outside the scheduled time with the match starting at 8:14 p.m. in Sydney after a scheduled 8 a.m. :10 p.m.

With the scheduled start time earlier than Game 1, it could last just over four minutes.

The welcome to the country and the national anthem usually take place around five minutes before kick-off, so we should know by then if the match will actually start on time.

As is tradition on The Roar, we have a launch bingo!

Be sure to indicate your expected start time in the form below and leave a comment with your thoughts. We’ll post the results of the State of Origin Launch Bingo poll approximately one hour before kick-off; and once the game has finally started we will also post the actual kick off time here.
