What gender is Joni The Red in Fortnite? Explain

Fortnite has just announced its latest Crew Pack skin. For members who subscribe, they receive a monthly skin, V-Bucks, and Battle Pass access for a single subscription. There have been skins for Green Arrow, Loki, and more with this subscription.

This month’s skin is Joni the Red. This skin has just been announced, but players are wondering what the Joni the Red Fortnite genre actually is. Epic Games has released an official blog post regarding their latest skin.

A Twitter user noticed a distinct lack of gendered pronouns in the version.

For them, this indicates that Joni the Red uses the pronouns them/them. Another Twitter user confirmed that multiple sources, official sources from Epic and beyond, have used him and her as pronouns to describe Joni.

Joni is fluent and the fact that the pronouns they, he, and she have all been used for them by official fortnite sources (even if in multiple languages) confirms this.

This would indicate that the last genre of Joni the Red Fortnite is fluid. This is a radical departure from the previous methods used by Epic. They have non-binary skin in Toni, which has they/them pronouns.

Additionally, they recently introduced a new DC skin in Dreamer. Dreamer is a transgender character. Outside of these two, however, this community is quite underrepresented in Fortnite.

Epic has always been friendly to the community, hosting events like Rainbow Royale and other things throughout the year, but this time it looks like they’re finally starting to be fair when it comes to representation.

However, based on the latest Crew Pack skin, it looks like Epic Games is moving towards better diversity in their skins.

What comes with Joni the Red in Fortnite?

Joni the Red’s official blog reads:

“Vampires beware. Part of the vampire-hunting ‘High Stakes Club’, Joni the Red strikes in the December 2022 Crew Pack, going live for all active Fortnite Crew subscribers around 7 PM ET on November 30 2022!”

Along with the skin, subscribers will also receive the Hunter’s Holdall back bling, Scarlet Oath pickaxe, and On A Hunt loading screen.

It will also be a very deep month for Crew Pack subscribers.

Most of the time, the skin and its cosmetics are released and that’s mostly all. However, Epic states that more is coming very soon:

“To raise the stakes even further, owners of the December Crew Pack will receive bonus rewards throughout December, including a new look for Joni the Red. And speaking of the future, you might see- soon to be another member of the High Stakes Club. Like very soon.”

Additionally, Crew Pack subscribers will unlock a stage of a new customizable pickaxe each month they are active. Many Fortnite players try to subscribe, get the skin and then cancel their subscription.

It’s Epic’s way of making sure they stay. There are six stages in the Photonic Legacy Set.

The Photonic Striker pickaxe is available and will have five alternate styles unlocked at different stages.

As always, the Crew Pack comes with the battle pass (which is fitting since the next season is just around the corner) and 1,000 V-Bucks each month. It’s a great deal.
