East Ham striker Maxwel Cornet has not traveled to Belgium for tonight’s Europa Conference League clash with Anderlecht after being ruled out with a calf problem.
Cornet received his first Premier League start since his summer arrival from Burnley in Saturday’s win over Wolves but was sent off before half-time due to the injury.
“Maxwell Cornet has not travelled,” Hammers boss David Moyes said. “He has a little sprained calf. We don’t know how long that will hold him back for now, but we don’t think it’s too bad.
“It was difficult because we want Maxi, we want to try to bring him up to speed and again he was another boy who didn’t have any pre-season games, didn’t do a lot of things in pre-season, so we’re trying to get ahead of him towards that and he’s actually had input in a number of games at the moment.
“These are the types of games where there’s a chance you can give these boys an opening and a great opportunity to play, to show what they can do, but we don’t have Maxi.”
Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd also remains on the sidelines but is pushing for a return ahead of the World Cup, while 16-year-old academy midfielder Oliver Scarles has made the trip to Brussels with Moyes’ first team .
West Ham predicted XI: (4-2-3-1) Areola; Coufal, Zouma, Ogbonna, Emerson; Rice, Soucek; Bowen, Fornals, Benrahma; Anthony
