West Ham has finalized the signing of Nikola Vlasic from CSKA Moscow.
The costs for Vlasic are € 30m (£ 25.7m) plus € 9m (£ 7.7m) of add-ons, with the contract running until 2026 and also including a one year option.
West Ham manager David Moyes said on the club’s official website: “I am delighted to welcome Nikola to West Ham United. I have seen Nikola improve in recent seasons – he has a good goalscoring record. and assists during this period.
“He’s also an experienced Croatian international and only 23 years old, I think there is more to come from him.
“I was really impressed with Nikola’s determination to become a West Ham player. It’s that hunger and ambition that matches what we’re trying to build here at the club.”
David Moyes was keen to strengthen his attacking options and turned his attention to the Croatia international after it became increasingly likely that Jesse Lingard would stay at Manchester United this season.
If Manchester United were to receive an offer in the final hours, this will be discussed with Lingard and a collective decision will be made.
Lingard excelled on a successful West Ham loan under Moyes last season, with the 28-year-old’s performances re-entering the thoughts of England boss Gareth Southgate.
Vlasic already had a disappointing two-year spell at Everton that ended in 2019.
The 23-year-old joined Everton on deadline day in the summer of 2017 for around £ 8million from Hadjuk Split, but only managed 19 appearances during his stint with the club .
He initially impressed then Everton boss Ronald Koeman but struggled to gain playing time under Sam Allardyce who replaced the outgoing Dutchman in November 2017.
Vlasic, who plays as No 10, was part of Croatia’s Euro 2020 squad and scored the opening goal in the 3-1 win over Scotland which secured qualification for the round of 16 final.
