Weekend Winners: Bay Bridge isn’t far away in next month’s Arc, according to Declan Rix! | Racing News

At the Races, expert Declan Rix takes on a Sir Michael Stoute-trained five-year-old who could line up in next month’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
Star three-year-old Ace Impact currently leads the market at 7/2 following French Derby success, with Hukum and Westover also leading the betting.
But with the race wide open at this stage, Rix set his sights on Bay Bridge, who stepped up his journey with victory in the September Stakes at Kempton last time out.
And with that stamina now guaranteed as well as Group 1 speed over 1,000 meters, he could succeed at a high price.
“He’s already won a Champion Stakes and they’re going to try and win an Arc now,” Rix told digital show Weekend Winners.
“At the age of five he is a bigger and stronger horse and he rarely meets his conditions. I think he needs a real handover to show his best potential.
“Last time on a softer surface at Kempton over 12 furlongs all weather I thought he was brilliant.
“Candleford is a good, strong stallion and has been in good condition recently and he beat him hard, showing he held up the trip well in a decent time.
“He is from New Bay who was placed in an Arc once upon a time and although his mother was a 1400 meter sprinter, if you go further back in the pedigree it is a strong line of half -Aga Khan background.
“He wasn’t exposed the whole trip. Eventually he got some cuts in the ground and was able to show his best.
“There’s not a lot of pace this year and if we had a tactical Arc race and he sat in the top three or four, you’d hope that pace over ten furlongs would see him challenge.”
