Week 13 Fantasy TE Rankings: Must-starts, sleepers, potential busts at tight end

After a week of chaos at TE in Week 11 when Taysom Hill was eligible to play the position in ESPN leagues, things have calmed down and are actually trending in an upward direction for tight ends. Though Rob Gronkowski is on bye, our Week 13 fantasy TE rankings are full of worthwhile starters and are bolstered by the potential return of a top player.

However, there is a bit of bad news with these rankings, as well. Mark Andrews has tested positive for COVID and will miss Week 13. Andrews had been re-emerging as a top option and was set to have a solid matchup against the Cowboys. Without him and with Nick Boyle on IR, the Ravens don’t have much talent left at the TE spot.

Fortunately, Zach Ertz (ankle) seems ready to get back on the field. Ertz should immediately return to his role as one of Philadelphia’s top targets, and both he and teammate Dallas Goedert should be viable starting options in all fantasy formats.

While Ertz is bolstering the depth of this week’s tight end rankings, some favorable streaming matchups are helping, as well. Jordan Reed (vs. Bills), Austin Hooper (@ Titans), Eric Ebron (vs. Washington), Kyle Rudolph (vs. Jaguars), and Jonnu Smith (vs. Browns) are all facing off against teams that rank in the top 11 in fantasy points per game (FPPG) allowed to the TE position. These players have all been inconsistent this year, but they all should have a chance to post solid stats.

One matchup that looks surprisingly good on paper is T.J. Hockenson against the Bears. Though Chicago has a good defense, they had allowed 8.9 FPPG to TEs enterting Week 12, then gave up a touchdown to Robert Tonyan. Hockenson has averaged 7.4 targets and 54.8 yards in his past five games, so his volume should make him a solid play in this contest.

Because of the multitude of streaming options available, trusting guys like Evan Engram (@ Seahawks), Logan Thomas (@ Steelers), and Dalton Schultz (@ Ravens) in tough road matchups isn’t too appealing. They’re all playing against great defenses, and though all three have high target floors, their ceilings aren’t quite as high in standard leagues. Engram would be the one to trust if any, but there are enough other streaming options and sleepers for fantasy owners to consider.

Check back for updates to these TE rankings throughout the week.
