A new disturbance crossed Pas-de-Calais this Monday bringing new sustained rains. In an already complicated context with still high river levels and saturated soils, new floods have occurred, at lower levels than the last two weeks. Weather conditions are improving, with showers becoming lighter and less frequent. The rivers will be in decline over the next few hours.

Near the Pyrenees, the rains intensify overnight and continue throughout the day on Tuesday, to the west of the Pyrenees chain and as far as Ariège. The accumulations expected by Tuesday evening in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Ariège are 15 to 30 mm on average in the plains, but 40 to 80 mm on the relief and locally 100 mm. With the cooling of the air mass at altitude and isothermal phenomena, the snow falls between 1200 and 1500 meters. The quantities of snow forecast for the episode range from 20 to 30 cm around 1500 meters and almost 60 cm from 2000 meters.

This Monday at the end of the day, the lull continued in Nord-Pas-de-Calais while deterioration began to set in in the regions close to the Pyrenees. In the northwest flow, precipitation blocks the Pyrenean foothills, but rain intensities are low (1 to 2 mm/hour). It is during the night that we expect increased precipitation.

At 15h, the bulk of the rains have drained away from Nord-Pas-de-Calais, the improvement is rapid. The total rainfall over 24 hours is 19 mm in Bainghen (62), 23 mm in Attin (62), 25 mm in Humières (62), 28 mm in Saint-Tricat (62).

At 12sustained rains are circulating in Nord-Pas-de-Calais with 3 to 8 mm falling over the last hour.

At 9 o’clock, a few showers are currently affecting Nord-Pas-de-Calais with gusts of nearly 70 km/h on the coast. The rain front has not yet arrived.

Tonight : it rains heavily in the west of the Pyrenees and the snow also increases, while falling between 1200 and 1500 meters depending on the massifs and the intensity of the precipitation (isothermal phenomenon).

Morning : it is still raining heavily in the Pyrenees-Atlantique with maximum hourly intensities around 15 to 20 mm. The rain-snow limit oscillates between 1200 and 1400 meters. Moderate snowfall also affects the Hautes-Pyrénées and the Ariège Pyrenees from 1400-1500 m.

Afternoon : showers follow one another until the evening, but begin to weaken in the second part of the afternoon. The mountain remains clogged with significant quantities of snow, which will cause traffic difficulties above 1200-1300 meters.
