We are minutes away from the results of Tory MPs’ vote on Boris Johnson

Betting markets are placing long odds on ousting Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Betting on him to remain prime minister is 1/10 with the odds of him losing the vote at 7/1.

A Reuters tally puts the number of MPs publicly supporting the prime minister at 164, of which 180 are needed. However, the vote is secret, so a public endorsement might not be worth much.

In any case, everything will be revealed at the top of the hour. Most notable to me is that Johnson promised MPs a tax cut at a meeting today. It is a promise that will have to be kept and which could add inflationary pressures on the pound sterling.
